Why Local Compression is Safer than Cloud
Protect your data. Why client-side Wasm technology is superior to uploading files to remote servers.
The Hidden Dangers of "Free Online Converters"
Search "video compress" and you'll find dozens of sites. Most of them work the same way: You upload your video to their server, they compress it, and you download it.
The Risks:
- Data Theft: You are handing your personal file to a stranger's server. What if they get hacked? What if they sell your data?
- Bandwidth Leaks: Uploading a 2GB file takes time and eats your data cap.
- Ownership Rights: Read the Terms of Service. Some sketchy sites claim a license to content you upload.
The VideoLite Difference (WebAssembly)
VideoLite is part of a new wave of "Serverless" apps. We use a technology called WebAssembly to run the compression engine (FFmpeg) inside your Chrome/Safari tab.
Proof: You can load VideoLite, turn off your Wi-Fi, and it will still compress your video. This mathematically proves your file never left your computer.
