Best Export Settings for Instagram Reels (High Quality)
Stop Instagram from ruining your video quality. Learn the correct bitrate and format settings.
Why Do My Reels Look Blurry?
You export a crisp 4K video from Premiere Pro or CapCut, upload it to Instagram, and suddenly it looks pixelated and muddy. Why? Compression.
Instagram's servers aggressively compress videos that are "too large" or have a bitrate that is "too high." If you upload a 100Mbps file, Instagram will crush it down to 4Mbps efficiently, often destroying detail in the process.
The Golden Rule: Compress Before You Upload
The secret to high-quality Reels is to do the compression yourself using a high-quality encoder (like ours) so Instagram doesn't have to do the heavy lifting.
Recommended Settings
- Container: MP4
- Codec: H.264 (Most compatible)
- Resolution: 1080x1920 (Don't use 4K, Instagram downscales it anyway)
- Frame Rate: 30fps or 60fps
- Bitrate: 3,500 - 5,000 kbps
Use VideoLite to ensure your video hits these targets. By feeding Instagram a file it "likes" (under 50MB, correct dimensions), it will process it with minimal quality loss.
